OBX-R Catback Exhaust installed

After reading up on the good reviews (https://www.rx8club.com/aftermarket-...eviewed-90770/) of this cat-back I've decided to give it a try and am glad that I did. It's designed for the S1, like every other exhaust system (aside from the RB S2 specific exhaust), but to make it fit one just has to purchase longer hangers to lower the muffler a bit (something like ROL Exhaust Rubber Hanger 511182 043645116316 | eBay x 8 for extra support as they're longer/thinner than stock).

The quality of the construction is OK for the price. The hanger which sits by the differential has to be cut about 1/4" for it to not rest against the differential. The stock mid-pipe side flange springs have to also be cut about a coil for them to fit, unless you buy shorter springs. Everything else fits well. Time will tell how the internals will hold up to the heat of the rotary.

Sound is perfect in my opinion, at least for the moment. It's slightly louder than stock with more bass. No rasp at all. Suites the RX8 image perfectly, in my opinion.

The tips are actually smaller than stock, which helps the exhaust fit well on the S2 without touching the plastic shrouds.

I would be interested in hearing what it sounds like. I think I still plan on going with the racing beat exhaust though since it fits without needing to be lowered. How much did the exhaust cost you?

I think it's cool that you can actually see the exhaust. Use Brasso to keep it shiny. It would suck if you were lowered though.

Cool, I'll keep that in mind.

So I am confused. What is the little welded canister to the downpipe?

Resonance chamber, helps reduce drone. Similar to the resonance chamber on the OEM intake
