245s are the go to for wheels 9" and lower

This is how a stretched 245/40 will look on a 18 x 9.5 +38 wheels.


It will tuck and will clear the fenders.


At stock height.


On drop springs.


My current set up perfectly fits(shown on pictures above) without messing with the fenders and stock camber settings. Any offset more than +25, you will definitely rub on tires wider than 245 without rolling the fenders.

If you do choose the 18 x 9.5 +23 with 245/40, your wheels will barely clear the lip of your fenders; the tires will rub the wheel-well liner at the front, when you hit a bump on stock height. You can go with 255/35 but it will look weird because the profile of the tires are thin. The side wall of a 255/40 will surely rub.

I think it's safe to say that a 245/40 will be OK on the 9.5" with the +23. It really depends on what brand of tires you will use. For example, the FALKEN ZIEX I have in the picture at the top does not stretch the same as my BFG g-Force and the DUNLOP SP 01 I am currently using below.

It depends on the tire brand, I don't think my 245/40-18's Yokohamas never stretched that much on my old 18 x 9.5's. I guess the angle of the pics makes it seem more stretched from certain angles. But it is only a slight stretch either way.

245s definitely aren't square on a 9.5" They look ok sometimes when you get wide ones. They are fine for a 9" though if you don't like stretch.

Hey guys,

looking at switching to 18 x 8.5 w/ a 30mm offset (all around) and I currently have the mazdaspeed springs and shocks. Just want to make sure I will be ok with fitment without further modification and also what size tires are recommended

Just as J8635621 had mention, the 245/40 will make the tires box. You can use 235/40 which is almost like the OEM size tires and still have that square sidewall.

I run 18x9 +38 MB Battles on springs with 245/40 with no stretch, if you do go 9.5 you will probably have a small stretch as most have already mentioned...no rubbing issues at all, lots of autox and track time and no rubs

i would get this same set up but the only have them in bronze at discount tire. i am leaning toward 18x9 +30 with 245's. what do you guys think?

Hey another one here wit mb battles 9.5 +15 with 245/40 all around with fenders rolled and lowered on coils. Having some issues with the fronts so far haven't gotten to the rears. Too tired. The back of the tires in the front are rubbing the wheel well pretty hard. Can I make the fronts fit by removing the liners? Or go down to a 35 tire profile or any other ideas? Thanks

Take off those front liners and look at what is behind them. I promise that you are rubbing on more than you know.

Would a 235/35 fit better without scrapping the back metal up front due to a smaller side wall and more of a stretch? Or can I possible get away with 245/40 all around by lowering the coils?

My buddy was running a 245/40 with those same wheels and really low. I am on a 245/40 with similar specs and very low and doing okay with some rolling and trimming.

18x9.5+10 Cosmis Racing XT206-R

These are the plan.

I literally found them two minutes ago, i saw them a while back and have been searching ever since. Now that i have found them and with the help of a few members i have found where i can purchase them.

So the question is this, the plan is to run Tien basic coilovers, only slightly below stock ride height. I will also be running 25MM wheel spacers. What would be the best tire choice size wise, in order to run these without having to roll the fenders.

Also, does anyone know if TPMS can be run with these?

And finally, just out of curiosity of the pure look of them. What does everyone think? Gunmetal grey with the polished lip or Black with the polished lip, this will be on my 04 BB GT

Dude, with a +10 offset. You will defenitely rub! And, did you know that adding a 25 mm spacer will end you up at -15 offset? You need at least a +25 offset to be safe with a 245/40/18 size tires.

Honestly no i did not.

My goal is to put the tire flush or at least close to flush.

These are the rims i've been searching for so i would love to make them work.

Any suggestions?

If you do not want to deal with rolling and shaving off any tabs, find out if they can make the 18 x 9.5 wheels with the same offset I suggested above with your tires stretched. But if you want your tires to look box, you need to get at least a +45 offset on a 265/35 or wider tires. I've posted this in the previous three pages, my square set-up are 18 x 9.5 +38 wheels with 245/40/18 tires.

Wait WHAT? So, with my 245/40/18's and my +45 offset wheels, my 25mm wheel-spacers are reducing my offset to only 20mm? Crap. No wonder I keep rubbing.
