Just as an update, I installed my new Konig Lace 18 x 9.5 (+45) wheels, at stock height, with 25mm Garageline wheel spacers, and I don't rub in the rear or in the front even at full wheel lock. My rear tires are 235/40/R18, and front tires are 225/40/R18 (which results in a slight amount of "stretch" effect on the front wheels, which wasn't intentional but isn't severe/obnoxious).

looking for light rim/tire combo with cheap replaceable tires(in case you were wondering about the 17" choice)
stock ride height
so:
Enkei RPF1's in:
17X 8.5 +40 or
17X 9 +45
either rim will be ran with 245/45R17's
Now I've researched for hours and done tons of search's, but haven't seen anyone with them, not sure if that's largely because few people use 17's or if its my fitment fear. nobody seems to use 18X8.5 so I'm curious if there is a reason to this or not.
I've tried some g35 17's I have and they clear the front brake rotor diameter wise so the enkei's should to in my brain but how about the spokes clearing the brakes?
Thanks guys

Will it fit
I ran 17x9 with +27 offset last season with 255/40 tires with some serious rubbing. I had to increase my negative camber which burned through the tires very quickly. I need a little less then an inch to prevent the rubbing in the future and I was wondering if I went to 245/40 would solve my issues. I have tried selling my wheels but I have not gotten any bites so I need to get my car finished as autocross season has already begun. Thanks for the help.

Can anybody give me a good explanation of how lowering springs effect wheel fitment? I understand how springs (spring rate and travel) and shocks (dampening) effect handling, but I don't fully understand how they change what can and cannot fit inside your fenders. I would think that say 1 inch shorter springs would be no different than compressing your stock springs by 1 inch and keeping them there. Eventually you’ll travel enough that you hit your bump stops, which prevents your wheel from traveling any further. That arc of travel that your wheel has would determine what size wheel/tire fits. So, how does spring length change that? I also understand camber, so don’t let that play into this. Forget that offset bushings even exist. I get that your suspension being compressed sort of adds camber (just because the wheel has rotated upwards), but how is that different from a shorter spring?
So say I have a set of wheels on my car that just barely fits in my fenders. I now switch to lowering springs (with appropriate shocks) and change nothing else. Will the fitment change? Will these wheels no longer fit? If so, why not? What am I missing here?

Camber and toe change as springs compress. Running aggro wheels on stock or soft springs will allow things to become friendlier with your tires as it travels upward. Take a look into your fender well. There are curves and sharp edges. A lot of trial and error is involved as well.
Sitting on crazy offsets with taller springs looks odd.

Mr Pieper,
I understand that. But what effect does changing to shorter springs have? Does it somehow effect fitment (i.e. if I don't rub now, even at full compression, would lowering springs cause a rubbing issue)?

Xxr 530 18x8.75 +20 or +33.
Stance gr+
Eagle gt 245/45/18
Trying to not have to roll any fenders. Not sure what's better to go with, 20 or 33 offset. From what I read on the forums sounds like 33.

Okay.... I've been reading many pages and can't find something to my friend's situation...I think he might be screwed to say the least.
Just want the expert opinion before I let him know what he's got himself into...
He's looking to run:
F: 19x9 +25 on 225/40/19
R: 19x10 +25 on 255/35/19
He's lowered on Eibach pro 1.5 front and 1.0 rear
Is he going to be fine (LOL), need a roll, or just screwed?

+33 to avoid rolling. You would be better off with a 245/40.

2009 R3 Lowered on S-Techs
Stock tires (225/40/19)
Was wondering if I could run 20mm spacers in the front and 25mm in the rear without rubbing? Or should I stick to 20mm in the rear?
Thanks

This. If you didn't already buy 20mm spacers then I'd just grab the 25mm spacers instead - they won't make your wheels "poke" out because your wheels aren't super-wide, and it'll save you from having to worry about bolt protrusion.

Looks good G Man, that's what i'm going for!! Did you have issues with protrusion installing them?
Yea I already have a pair of 20mm. Looking at getting 25mm for the rear. I tested the 20mm and there is definitely protrusion :/ So I guess I'll have to replace the front studs? Which is a hassle. If anyone is aware of a better way let me know.
Thanks,
Shumster
