TPMS Light stays constant!

I recently installed Volk Le37t's (19 x 9.5 rear 8.5 front) on my car, and opted to leave the TPMS out because i feel that it's a superfluous option, and im able to check tire pressure on my own. Anyways my concern is that my TPMS light stays on constantly, while most others on the board have reported that it flashes. Although I am not disturbed by the light itself, I was just curious as to why mine reacts differently to what others have reported?

My light stayed constant while I had my winter rims on.

No issues.

After I put my stock rims back on, the light when out, and still no issues.

I think the flashing is for thoe that have purchased different TPMS devices and not propery set-up via the TSB. Not for missing TPMS devices.

What tire pressure are you using? If it is much above/below 32 that may be your problem.

It is curious that you have the constant light. Without TPS, I got the flashing light. I thought the constant light was the pressure warning, but I see that markh711 had the constant light without TPS. Can it be that the TPMS is programmed differently in some cars?

Send a message via AIM to VeilsideRX-8
I got some 18" Enkei's put on my 8, changed out the 16" rims and tires, now my TPMS is acting up, it flashes, but instead of coming right on when i start up the car, it takes time, around 10 minutes or so to come on. Is this system smart enough to detect the new tires and is it telling me they are not set within the correct range of pressure, or is it just assuming the pressure of the old set is low.

It sounds as if your Enkei wheels are not fitted with tire pressure sensors. You seem to be getting the message that no sensors are present. The ten minute delay in seeing the warning is normal.

When I first put on my Volks (about 2 months ago) the TPMS light would start to flash about 10 minutes after I started the engine. This didn't really bother me because I work less than 10 minutes away.

This morning, when I started the car, the TPMS light came on solid. I wonder why the change???

thread exhuming in progress...

ok, back in oct i ordered some aftermarket rims, and obviously, while driving with them over the past few months, no light for the first few miles/minutes, then the tire pressure light would come on and flash for the duration of the trip.

now, as of a few days ago, when i turn the car on, the tire pressure light is already on, and is solid, and remains on and solid for the entire trip.

any ideas why the behavoir changed? is it a after blinking for this duration it registers as a "permanent" error, kind of like after a few misfires the CEL stays illuminated instead of flashing and then going off?

20 months later and my TPMS light is still on solid! To tell you the truth, I prefer to have it on solid as opposed to flashing. It just blends in and doesn't really bother me anymore! But, if there was a way to shut if off completely, that would be great!

yeah, i guess the flashing is more obtrusive, and at least it isn't beeping *knock on wood*. i'm just curious as to the change.

Thought there was a way... to pull a fuse or something. Mine is always on as well.. as long as you have a multipiece wheel, it will stay on.

Mine is on all the time. I took off my stock rims, and no longer have TPMS on my car. Just put a piece of black tape over it. Works fine. Don't even notice it anymore.
