Hey guys. I hate to post another thread about springs but I'm about to make my decision here for my suspension setup. I just recently snagged a brand new set of Tokico D-Specs from elysium8 on the forums. I am now deciding what springs I want to mate with these. I currently have the appearance package and I am planning on putting the Mazdaspeed kit on sometime this summer. I will using the car for autocross and HPDE events this year as well as some occasional daily driving. I have another car that is my DD. Comfort is not really a concern. I have already ruled out a few springs based on my research hear on the forums and how low the springs will sit on my car. I have ruled out the following. (Let me know if I am wrong)

Tein S-Techs
Sprint Springs
Auto-exe Springs

I am currently looking at,

Swift
H&R Sport
Tanabe GF210

I am favoring the Swifts from what I've read on the forums here. My only concern is that the car will end up being too low for my taste. Let me know your thoughts and I'd love to hear from other D-Spec owners as to what are running now. Thanks!!

Why not check out the Tein H-Tech? It has a 0.7 drop all around, a stiffer rate than the S-Tech, and is relatively cheap ($170 at most place, I think).

I don't know much about the three you listed though, sorry.

I looked at the H Techs and did some research but I saw a lot of users with an unbalanced look on the car. Almost like a monster truck up front with a low drop in the rear. The setup did not seem balanced.

Gotcha - that's more because the rear of the car is more flush (the wheels don't have to turn), and the H-techs drop evenly.

i have the d-specs and tein s-tech. Over all i like the set especially since i can adjust the stiffness of the shocks, that makes up for the s-tech being a little soft. If you love the rack look then i think you should get the s-techs, they are the same price as the h-techs.

swifts are conservative, both h&r and tanabe will drop more.

that said, a 30 mm drop isn't that bad. I had espelirs on tokicos and it wasn't too low.. at least for me.

I have Tokico D-specs and use the progress technology street springs. 1.2 inch drop in the front, and 0.8 inch drop in the rear. I love them. 205 spring rate front and 145 rear. I little stiffer than stock but not harsh. I have tracked the car several times and love the feel of this combo. They are only $175 from raceroots.com

ps. the rears are not quite as low as my sig pic makes it look. That pic is on the gas coming out of a corner. The drop looks nice and even.

Ok thanks for all the input guys. I think I'm narrowing it down to the swift springs or the H&R Sport. I thought that the progress tech springs would be too low with the D specs? I'm not sure. I figure that my best best is to get the springs, try them out and if it's too low then sell them and try another set. Does anyone have pictures of one of these setups or similar? Thanks again for your help.

GET THE SWIFT. i've tried most of them and

SWIFT + DSPEC, made me want to sell my $3000.00 Zeal Coilovers.

Great comfort and amazing handling in the canyons. It will outhandle coilovers on rough or uneven surfaces. Seriously that setup is so awesome.

SPEND WHATEVER EXTRA IT COSTS, YOU WON'T REGRET IT. ok sorry for the caps, but you must buy the swift springs.

Another option for you maybe be Sprint Springs. They are a 2" drop all around and when settled about a 2.25" drop all around. I don't know if that is too agressive for you or not, but maybe just something else to look into.

i bought my d specs with swift springs and love them. i think any more of a drop and i would tear up stuff under the car where i live. they handle great and ride isnt too harsh if you addjust them

i run s-techs and the car is very, very settled. while it looks great in terms of stance, i do have to say it is a little annoying how many times i scrape the front aero piece...probably once every three weeks or so.

also, jindesu above mentions that the s-tech is actually softer than the h-tech, and that's not true (unless i've missed something?). check out the springs sticky in this section...s-techs are stiffer than most, short of the mazdaspeed and i think one or two others...
