OK, so I lied - no naked women. But the stock Bridgestones blow!
13k miles on my car (2.5k by me, rest by previous owner) and tires are shot. Plenty of tread, but they are not round!
Scalloped is the word - think of a wave wrapped in a circle. Wondered why my car didnt have the wonderful grip/feel/handling everyone rave's about. On the rack, you could see a tire that was obviously partially oval (after driving 30 min in 50+ degree weather)
Bridgestone - you suck.
Am now trying to quickly track down some high perf all weathers-
Kuhmo
Falken
Toyo
Goodyear
under 175$ a tire
Did I mention Bridgestones suck? -

Can I also suggest Fuzion as a cheap alternative. They are made by Bridgestone, but all Bridgestones aren't bad. I'm reall happy with my Fuzion ZRi's so far.
Search on Tire Rack. But if you're in Georgia you could try the Kuhmo SPT's. Those are my daily tires and work well in the wet and the dry (obviously they suck in snow).
I have Riken Raptors, made by BFGoodrich, high qualitly, have a rain patteren and they actually do awesome in rain (can't say for snow I live in AZ), very nice tires, and not that expensive either. I'm going to try out kdws, Toyo RA's or Falkens next time just to dabble in something different.
And this thread is soooo false advertising!!!

I know I went overboard on the first post - venting a little frustration at unexpected news. That's all. I shouldn't post when drinking and angry.
I am not buying all-weathers.
I don't hate Bridgestone - 4 specific tires they created maybe.
Thanks for the suggestions on tires - considering them.
And sorry for the misleading thread title...
If you put only 2.5k miles on the car.. how do you KNOW it's the tires? You know that tires need to be rotated right? Are you sure the previous owner did?
This was discovered when I went to a local Ga shop that specializes in just Mazda. Anyone in the Georgia Rx-8 area knows it. We put the car up on the rack to rotate them, and you could feel the scalloping and see the warp. No point in rotating.
No idea about the previous owner, but the car came with a nice manual and Dunlop car papers. These were Bridgestones. It passed thru a couple dealers before I got it. Someone ditched some bad tires on to the car at some point, probably to dump them. Katrina tires?
I can't blame Bridgestone - was pissed in my first post.
Going to find new rubber, have the full 4 tire align, and go back to have all the rest checked out.
There is a very good local network of 8 drivers here who have dealt with a lot of dealers, shops, etc here and I feel confident in the people I am dealing with now.
I have Toyos on my car. Much better feel, and have lasted a lot longer.

sorry about the bridgestones....i thought mine were good, and I got 31K out of them
and boooooo for the no naked women as advertised
but to the point, I have the Falken ZE512 UHP all seasons on my new rims, and I don't care for their performance much. The car's handling feels much more mortal now. I won't be buying them again. I was able to drive in snow the other day, though.
1. My NEW 2006 came with papers for Bridgestone AND Dunlop, so don't use the papers as a guide.
2. I've had a set of Bridgestone RE050A tires before and they're actually VERY good tires with predictable breakaway characteristics and solid cornering performance... which is what they're meant to have.
3. A tire on any RWD independant-suspension car will cup on the back if not rotated.
4. Under 15k miles with NO FLIPPIN' rotation will do it to ANY tire, whether it's a race slick or a 50,000 mile warranteed tire!
If you want more mileage from your tires, buy a Honda... I hear they ride real nice...
