Lightweight Brakes that fit 17" rpf1's?
Looking for lightweight rotors and calipers that will fit rpf1's in 17"x8" 35 mm offset. Not interested in making my brakes better as they already do plenty for my needs I just want to scrub off as much unsprung weight as I can while maintaining my brake balance and streetability.
I know I should have researched this BEFORE I bought the rims but... o well.

Check Racing Brake. They make a two piece rotor in the oem sport size which I think saves approx 14lbs across all four corners. They also make an aluminum 4 piston front caliper that fits the oem size front rotors. I think Goodwin Racing also sells the Racing Brake gear and they can probably tell you if the calipers will work with your wheels.

It's the 17x9 +45 RPF1's which have the clearance issues. Are you sure these won't fit?

Looks like the caliper on the Miata kit is 18mm inboard from the RX8 kit but 5mm taller radially. So maybe the barrel would still be an issue. Brian's comments on his web site are encouraging:
Requires 17 inch wheels and fits most of all our 17x8 and 17x8.5 Enkei wheel choices (email us for template to check your wheels). Sorry, needs a 3mm spacer to fit the 17x9 RP-F1.

it's a BBK (barely) with a 13" rotor vs 12.7" on the OE kit. The issue is the barrel ID for that one, wheel weights won't clear so they can only be mounted out at the inner barrel rim lip, not inboard
On the further inboard lit occasionally someone has an interference between the inside rotor and the upright. It is an extremely close tolerance fit to move it that far inboard and apparently the factory doesn't hold a tight tolerance in that area on the OE parts because there is no reason to.

do you run Enkei 17 x 9 RPF1 wheels?
also I think the early RB caliper didn't have the big angle cutback on the outer corner like it does now
back in the early days they had a special RX8/Enkei BBK kit (now discontinued) that mounted the caliper inboard further but it still had issues on the 17x9, but not the 18 x 9.5

the point was, did you run them with the calipers you mentioned? The issue is that the Enkei wheels in general have less radial and spoke clearance than many other wheels.
mostb people are not in a position to make their own mounting kit either so they need more than just a stand-alone racing caliper, then there is the cost too ...

I get out plenty, I know all about AP calipers and many more including their costs and requirements. How does any of that relate to a guy who can't make his own kit like your or I can? You don't even have any direct input on about what specifically can fit. Any catalog reader can say "AP brake calipers" and leave it at that.

You miss my sarcasm... my reply actually meant "don't even bother, it's not worth the headache".

yes, which makes whether or not you've used them before as irrelevant as noting other selection limitations that you didn't list.
The known AP caliper RX8 kits won't fit. The TCE/Wilwood RX8 kits won't fit. The Stoptech kit won't fit.
I forgot to mention that the Endless Mini6 kit costs almost 2x more than the RacingBrake kit.
