Rota RT5-R2 17x10 +50 wheel for autocross/HPDE FITMENT DETAILS

Anyone tried to Rota RT-5 wheel in 17x10 +50? I'd be fitting 255/40/17 autocross-grade tires on an autocross / track day car. I'd be aiming for a 13.5" ride height. This setup would be 1" wider on both sides of the hub centerline.

Trying to figure out if this would require any rolling at a reasonable ride height.

They seem popular with the S2000 guys due to decent brake clearance, favorable offset, and reasonable weight and price (20.8 lbs, and $800 for the set)

UPDATE: I bit the bullet, and bought a set of (4) Rota RT5-R2 17x10 +50 hyper black wrapped in hankook RS3 255/40/17. The wheels weigh about 20.8 pounds a pop, not bad at all. I have an SCCA buddy who has a very power turbo FC RX7 and he runs these wheels in 18's with 305 Nitto NT01, and hasn't had any issues beating on them.

So, the barrel is a tight fit over the calipers/brackets... a little TOO tight. I used a 4" angle grinder with a thick wheel and shaved the brackets/calipers just a little bit, and now they fit like a glove. there's a slight rub on the passenger side plastics in the fender at full lock going left, but it's extremely minor. Did an HPDE last night, and I had absolutely no clearance issues on a bilstein B12 kit. Just slightly lower than stock, with maximum front negative camber and stock rear camber. my fenders and wheel well plastics are completely unmodified.

Will post pictures of calipers/brackets and wheels soon. overall, highly recommended setup.

If they fit over the brakes, they should work, but I'm not a fan of Rota, having had a set of their wheels on my RX7 crack around the lug hole due to a design defect. Luckily I caught it in the paddock and it didn't fail on track (they were my track wheels).

Better yet, you can pre-order 949Racing 17x10's for just a little more 17x9 6UL. They should also hold their value in the used market and TeamRX8, a member here has fitted the previous generation 17x10 (same offset) to his car, so it should be fine.

Team-RX8 ran 265/35-18 on 18 x 10.5 +43 without fender mods, which is ~1/2" more outboard and about the same inboard. That is also 0.3" larger diameter than 255/40-17. I'd assume i'm good to go if I run a reasonable alignment and ride height. Thanks!

He's also posted about buying and fitting the 6ULR's, but not in any great detail. I use 17x9's with a 48mm offset and 255/40/17's on track with no trouble, but using coilovers, stiffer sway bars and an aggressive alignment. 18x9.5's at 45mm offset with 275/35/18's was a popular formula for years as well that could be run trouble free.

when i read the S2000 posts, some guys had issues fitting these over stoptech big brake kits. Sounds like the inner barrel is a bit small. So i'm not sure they'd clear the RX8 sport brakes.
