weird problem

A little about my car first. Its an 04 6spd with the greddy turbo kit, larger turbo, intercepter x ecu, changed my spark plugs 3 days ago and oil at the same time. This is a mazda reman motor since I blew the last one. It has 44,000 miles on it with the turbo on. I had a compression check done last week and its still good.

Ok, I was had my car parked for about 3 hours and then started to drive home, I was drivng for about 6 miles and I come to a stop light so I down shift and when I get close to the light I take it out of gear completly, the car dies. I try to start the car and it starts but wont hold and idle, so I had to start the car and give it gas and get to a gas station so I can look it over. On my way to find somewhere to park I just pushed the clutch in to see if it would die again but this time the car just idled at around 2900 rpm's. When I put it back in gear it dropped a little bit but stayed within the same area, then at that time I tried to give it gas and there was nothing. I could hold the pedal to the floor and my rpm's wouldnt move. I see and empty parking lot and limp my way in, I shut the car off and immediatly started to check fuses, with no luck. I checked all of my vacum lines and they were all connected at both ends. I tried to start my car again the the rpms jumped right back up to 2900. Then I decided to dissconect my interceptor x and just have the stock ecu plugged in, that didnt work. I dissconnected the battery and let it sit for a minut or two and that didnt work. Then I tried reseting the ecu by pressing the brake pedal 20 times and to my amazment, I started the car and it idled fine. I put the interceptor back on and it still idled fine. I drove arond the paking lot taking it easy at first then kinda getting on it. It was apperently fine, drove home with nothing werid happening. Has anybody ever experienced anything like this or knows what might have caused this? Any thoghts would be great, thanks.

Check your Eccentric shaft sensor...might be a piece of crap on it...If it picked up something.......you could have gotten bad readings that confused the PCM...putting it into limp mode....then when you reset it initialized OK.....

I was going to say it sounded like limp mode.

Good find to correcting the problem.

Where is the eccentric shaft sensor? I drove 256 miles today and it actually seems like its running better than before.

Sensor is front of engine near main pulley on drivers side of pulley...it looks like a Stainless steel cylinder about 1/2" in dia with a plug on it....

They are magnetic and tend to pick up metal shavings and stuff if you drive around shops or construction sites a lot
