Had the dealer inspect the high pitched whine I have been hearing for a while. Their prognosis is that the UIM is cracked or has a failed seal. Of course their quote was outrageous (+2k) to smoke test and replace the UIM and all seals.


I have looked for the UIM online and found it for ~$100. So, what would the estimate be in both time and $$ to replace this myself?

It takes like 20 minutes tops to remove and reinstall it even for a rookie. You can also buy just the seals. Remove it and test it for leaks.
