u0155 lost connection to instrument cluster code pulled up on my rx8 and it won't start.any ideas what it could be? battery light is on to.thanks

Uxxx codes are usually erroneous and set when a generic code reader is hooked up after the key is already set to the on position, reset the code and see if it returns immediately and after cycling the key with the scanner still hooked up. only hook up and remove the scanner with the key in the full off position.

if it is a recurring code regardless of the above then it is usually a connection issue, which is probably caused by a faulty connection at the cluster itself.

unfortunately this code is probably not the issue as to why the car won't start, which could be as simple as a flooded engine due to shutting it off before allowing it to warm up properly, or a faulty ignition system, followed by a blown engine/faulty coolant seals/low compression causing the flooding issue. if the car isn't even cranking then it could be simply a weak battery, loose connections at the battery or starter, or a faulty starter itself.

I did try clearing the code a few times and turning the key off before disconnecting the scanner.the check engine came back right away.i tryed the de flood method a few times.the tail pipes don't smell like raw fuel at all.just smells like burnt starting fluid.i might have to save up and take it in to the dealer thanks for the help
