trunk lid button not working
#26
As has been previously mentioned, I know this was a while ago but has anyone come up with a fix for this? I have an '04 rx8. The switch in the glove box is on. The push button under the dash works to open the trunk. The key works to open the trunk. However, the fob does not work to open the trunk. The fob will lock/unlock the car and also trigger the alarm properly. It is not a huge deal as I can still get the trunk open with the dash button or the key, but would like to be able to use the fob for what it was supposed to be for. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The same problem with mine RX-8. I'm hearing clicking noise but no trunk release.
How can i fix it? Fuse change will do? But which in deed it is for trunk opener?
Has anyone fix this problem?

I am having the same problem.
Valet button in the glove box is switched on, pressing the trunk release switch under the dash or the key fob causes the trunk relay to click but trunk does not open.
Checked the trunk actuator and it works with two wires and a 9v battery.
Checked the actuator power plug and reading 12v on a multimeter when holding the key fob button for over a second and pressing the interior trunk switch under the dash.
I had the same issue having to press the interior switch a few times before the trunk opened, but it stopped working altogether now.
Is it the relay sounding like it is working but not?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Fixed it.
The issue is the trunk B110 imasen relay under the dash in the footwell area, for RHD cars near the throttle pedal.
For LHD it is in the passenger area near the fuses.
Took some fiddling about with a screw driver to get the relay out but bought a used relay and popped it in, pressed the interior trunk release and trunk popped opened.
Next tried the trunk release on the remote key fob and trunk opening. Tried both ways a few times and opening great now.
So happy to have it working again as was a right pain using the key. So try the trunk relay first if you have been pressing the interior trunk release and it takes a few pushes
before it will open. Also check your valet button in the glove box if you have a valet button is pushed in, if not then it will be either the relay or the trunk actuator.

Funny thing about that,, mine "died" about 4 years ago and my dealer tells me I have to buy a new electric actuator = mucho dineros. I said screw it. I'll use the key which I have been doing every since. Now I KNEW about this button , and tried a few time but damned if it didn't' work. So here I am years later scrolling through forums about maybe buying a new one. I see your post and say "what the hell?" i go down to the garage, jump in the old girl (2005 AT Ti-Grey Original Owner) open the box, clean out all the crap in there. reach over and hit the button a few times. In,,, nothing,, out nothing,, in nothing, out nothing, then in and out and in and out a bunch of times..... what do think happens when I hit the ole trunk release button?? Klunk! she opens~~~ in disbelief I jump out and look and sure enough ,, its open. I close , have to hit the release button about 3/4 times and klunk-- open! So----- using my superior intellectual and power of deduction, I'm thinking, something just got stuck or mucked up and just hit the box button a bunch of times to "loosen it up like" . Now it works like a charm.. Xmas in September! Now if I can only figure out how to get it to release using the key ,, maybe a new fob battery which never has been changed since I bought the car in 2005 ? Worth a shot eh? Anyway, thanks for ratting the old noggin and clearing out the cobwebs,, That was my "Easter egg" for the day .;-) Cheers!
