Hello all,

I'm new to the RX8 and very new to the different noises which my engine makes.

Can you tell if you think this is an issue or not?

When i start the car the rev's hit about 2k, I leave the car to idle down to about 1k before i start to drive car.

What I have noticed is that the when then engine is first start it is very loud, its hard to explain. If press the clutch this noise goes away, if i then take my foot of the clutch is comes right back.

Its hard to explain what the noise is its like a rattle, maybe like bearing rattle but high background noise.

In addition to the above when I change into 6th gear i can hear a very faint noise which sounds like an old tape deck system when hit fast forward or rewind.

I'm getting the car into Mazda when i get time but want to see want people thought might be the issue here?

When does the noise go away (if it does go away) besides pushing in the clutch? Note: let the car warm up for five minutes or so before driving. And never start the car and then turn it off before it warms up or you could flood it.

The issue only goes away once in gear. If i'm idle and in netural then you can hear it. Once the car has warmed up its not as bad but you can still hear it.

Sounds like the throwout bearing. I've owned two RX-8's and both did it. A close friend has an RX-8 and his does it. Every RX-8 I've took for a test drive did it as well. Either I've driven a LOT of broken RX-8's or it's something I'd considering to be normal.

I was told my a friend it sounds the clutch release barring. I'm going to get it in the workshop and let them see what's wrong.
