Sticky question

I literally have a sticky question.

So a cup of Sprite got dumped on my steering wheel . Now my radio buttons are all nice and gooey and stick when cold. I can't find any info on removing the black panel surrounding the controls so I can clean things up. Does anyone know how to remove the panel or have a clue how I can somehow clean it up without removing the cover? Luckily it's only on the left side, so my cruise works just fine and I only have to worry about one side.

Interior detailer and a rag will easily get rid of the stickiness left over from soda spills.

The soda is actually down in the switches. Can I just spray the detailer liberally and hope the residue dissolves and flows out?
