Small oil leak --- pan or sensor?

I just got a 2008 40th Ann Ed (2k miles, used). In my garage i notice a small oil spot (size of a nickle) from under the car every few days. When I looked under from the driver side I reached to find some oil on what I thought to be the drain plug to the oil pan. I am assuming it is the oil pan being unfamiliar with the rotary (its somewhat square). But it is actually wet on what appears to be some sort of sensor as it has wires on it and the tape around it peeled off. So I am unclear on what it is -- maybe a oil sensor of some type? It doesn't seem to have a bolt pattern on it to tighten but maybe I didn't look close enough -- its tough to get under it. But where is the oil drain plug?

Thx,

My oil pan sensor may be leaking as well - how do you fix, replace, tighten?

I found a thread on it (below). Mine is very light (nickle size spot every 3-5 days or so) but I may call dealer as nothing hit is so I assume the warranty will cover it.

Is the oil leaking from where clip 10-259 is? If so the problem seems to be with the sensor (10-7301) which is inside the oil pan.

I did get the pan and sensor replaced under warranty by the dealer.

Apparently the 2008 40th Anniv Ed had parts perhaps keyed to the VIN (I was not sure what the service manager was saying nor did she, but they had to order the pan special).
