Ok, this is the second time since I got the "M" flash that my service engine light has come on. The first time I took it in and and the service tech said that it just went off on its own right before he tried to figure out what was wrong. This time it came on after I had let the car idle for awhile (~35 minutes outside my office because I had planned to run in and out and ended up staying awhile). It still hasn't gone off after a day and I have checked the oil, gotten gas and tightened the lid, etc. Is there anything else it could be? I just really don't want to take it in to the dealer and it be "nothing" again.
Thanks

probably a temporary overtemp situation or a misfire. but to be sure you would have to have soemone tell you the code it stored. the service tech should have been able to pull a code the last time. the light should go out after a few more on off cycles without what ever the problem was re occuring. if turns into a FLASHING CEL get into service a soon as possible. not likely to happen tho.

CEL information is stored in the PCM for ..I think 100 key cycles.
I serious doubt it was a P0455 (loose filler cap) since the new PBE system checks the Evap after the car has been shut off.
Well, thanks guys...I have been all over town today running erands. Have started and stopped the car at least a dozen times. Light is still on. Nothing weird about the car that I can tell. Not running hot, etc. Looks like I will be seeing the dealer this week.
i had the same problem then. it got to where it started loosing power. long story short..catalytic went out. this was today.. i went and had cat replaced, but it is still getting red hot.. i cant run it as is because it will burn out the new cat. any sugestions out there?
i only had car for a few months. dont know if plugs had been replacedi removed spark plugs one at a time, noticed the top plugs were wet compared to the bottom ones.

ur muffler is loaded with idiots, most universal cats cant stand rotary exhaust temp, and it will kill the cat fast.
if u go cheap, get stuff thats designed for rotary cars, mangaflow has one, dont get anything from walker.
or i can sell you a brand new stock oem cat that should cost about 1100 ?
and you should fix whatever problem u have first before u invest more cats. if u dont know the history of coils, plugs nor wires. replace them all might be a wise move

Since you refer to "Top" plugs, I recommend you are very careful when replacing the plugs and place the plug with the L in the hole beside the L, and the plug with the T in the hole beside the T. If you can do that you'll be ahead of most dealerships.
