RX8 2004 power stearing warning lights on rackpinion off
rx8 2004 power stearing warning lights is on and the rackpinion off. fuse 60amp in the battery is ok. the battery pole is clean and fix. the gray connector near of main fan is ok. the trouble is intermitent today is ok and the other day is bad. please said me news updated info for repair. This is the second change of rackanpinion the first change in warranty at 18 month. the other change cost $2,200 part and labor.

Same thing happened to me last week. When I disconnected BOTH grey connectors they didn't look as dirty as I thought they would after 139,000 miles. Using contact cleaner however solved the issue.

Power stearing rx 8 2004
You need cleaning a two gray plug below canister air filter. One plug have 2 power cable and other plug have four or five cable. You need electric contact cleaner and cleaning both plug. Verify the contact must be very tide.
The more important is the hose for drainage the coolant bottle. This is the principal cause of throuble. This is a short hose for drainage. When the car is hot, the hose drainage vapor and droops coolant. This vapor and coolant impact the gray plug and the cable is hot. This situation shutdown the power stearing. I change the hose for other more large and I put the hose on back to the bottle for drainage on back of the radiator panel and the vapor no contact with the gray power cable. You can put the hose to drainage to other place but not in the electric gray plug.
For finish remove the negative battery cable for reset the electrict system. cleaning the main fuse of power stearing on positive pole of battery. Cheeck the contact this need be very tide. cheeck the pole of battery. cleaning both poles. tide but poles. if necesay change.
All this procedure resolved the trouble. This situation of power stearing was a headaches. But with help of RX8 CLUB FORUM I RESOLVE THE PROBLEM.
