Rough Shifting in 2nd and Reverse

Its not awful, but shifting into 2nd and reverse isnt quite as smooth as the other gears. I just bought this 06 Shinka and it only has 11k miles on it. Previous driver was pretty easy on it too.

Doesn't seem to make a difference. Reverse is at idle. 2nd anywhere from near idle to 6-7k,

I have a similar problem with 4th...if you shift at high RPM without a pause in neutral it rejects it.

Does it help if you pause in neutral and let your engine calm down

I shift into second at 40 all the time...as long as you rpm match and don't just jam it into gear you're fine.

yeah, try holding down the accelerator a little longer as you engage the clutch. that is, don't let off the gas before you clutch, let off the gas just after you clutch.

if that doesn't work, there's always the double clutch.

reverse is just hard. you have to push down. there's a pin in there to prevent you from jamming it in reverse instead of 4th or 6th.

see the axial flow short shifter diy for a picture of a similar pin.

If done improperly it could damage the tranny...I'll give you that. But otherwise...Red Line a Day keeps Montrose Mazda away!

gas on an 8. Get rid of it and get a civic if u want good gas mileage. And I can't downshift into fifth unless I rev match. It's like trying to shift through a brick wall. All Grundy and sounds awful
