OR Random squeak/squeal, narrowed down to belts? Maybe?

Hey guys,
I have searched around and can't seem to find a similar issue. Car runs great 6speed just hit 45k. I'm very good with routine maintenance but I have a squeak/squeal that I can pin down 100%. At first, during summer I would get a squeal when the ac was on...only sometimes and only when I was holding the rpm's in the same range for a few minutes. I checked both belts and they are still in good shape, no cracks or splits. Deflection was good too 1/4 to 1/2 inch. Now during winter I am getting the same style squeak/squeal without using the AC but again while holding rpm's. In both cases as soon as I vary rpm's it goes away. Its not very loud but annoying. I have narrowed it down to belts because of sounds and previous experience with bad belts on other cars. In those cases the belts were cracked or loose though.

I did buy the car used at 31k so I am considering just replacing the belts by using the DIY's we have here. I just wanted to know if anyone else has heard of this or if there is something besides the belts I need to look into.

air pump. you're hearing it more because it runs more in the colder temps

also remember - Anytime you are running the defroster you are cycling the AC AND anytime you have FLOOR selected the defroster runs, whether you selected it or not

^....................WUT?
Thought the air pump only ran at start-up to warm the CAT up for emissions.
I would get a small can of belt dressing and give it a little shot and see if it solves the issue.

It's not the air pump,,,,I have the same thing on my automatic. I asked my mechanic to find and fix it. He put new hangers on my exhaust,,,no help. It is getting worse and is driving me crazy. I think it is s flange or gasket on exhaust and I have possible belt tensioner going bad. It is random,,,hot or cold. Seems to be lounder the more the car vibrates and when the car is hotter. It's going to get checked again before I go insane. I also ordered a factory new idler pulley for the A/C system. It seems I can hear it squeaking too,,so I think. Is hard to replicate when it only does it when you are moving fast. I had an RX7 that one went bad so just replacing anyway. Check out www.jimellismazdaparts.com to find the computer microfiche details. One dealer told me you cannot just buy the pulley and had to buy the whole assembly...wrong. Also noted that this new idler pulley had a B version on the part number. Maybe they updated it with better bearings? who knows. Hopefully one of us will be able to solve the squeak.
