Problem continued

What has been done.
Replace all plugs
Replaced all wires (mazdamatrix)
replaced all Coils (oem)
Engine decarb (mazda zoom cleaner)
premix 4oz per tank idemitsu

noted symptoms in order:
-after long drive (50 miles) when fuel light was on, lost power trying to accelerate past 4000 rpm multiple times
-after long long drive (100's of miles), loose power with same scenario
-noted that after i gas up to full, symptom disappears
-when car is relatively cold/just warmed up, no problem even at low tank
-after i decarbed the car, the car kinda stalled initially, but i "deflooded" it and finished decarbing procedure, checked plug and noted that it was dark(too rich or something)
-attended autox, at 1/2 tank full throttle, street tire sweeping left, lost power at 5k, and once at a straight WOT after slow tight right. problem was fixed after running over and filling her to full tank.
-on the highway just to test, i slow to 60, put it in 3rd, WOT, lost power at 6,7k rpm, with 1/3 tank, finally forced the CEL to be solid, code reads engine misfire 2nd rotor, shortly after low oil came up, i pulled over and checked oil, was like 80% on dipstick so i topped it off.. then the problem went away on the 2nd attempt to recreate it.

so i am just suspecting fuel pump? help -.- i think i may have to bring it into the dealer.. much money

note to self and whoever.. fuel pump removal DIY https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...3&postcount=62

The fuel filter is built in with the fuel pump and mazda sees it as a non service item

i bet it's the fuel pump too. you can do it yourself, its not that bad if you have the right tools. even if you don't, its doable. check staticlag's thread for his esmeril turbo.

I worked with a guy in PA for a few weeks and he had an 8 so we got to talking about that.

He described just what you have. It was resolved with a new fuel pump.

should be covered under extended powertrain right?

.. wonder if it covers rental.

also.. would a bad fuel pump cause my 2nd rotor misfire CEL?

update: took it in, my front engine mount was shot, and they replaced my "bad" front engine oil seal. the car has only done a loss of power at high rpm once, when i was climbing a steep hill at full throttle, i suspect tat is probably my clutch's fault though..
