possible engine blow?

i was driving to work this morning and i took it up to redline just once before i got to work and when i got there my engine started idling really bad. and a horrible smell came from the engine. not sure if i was smelling oil or what. any ways it shut off and i couldnt get it to start up again. im pretty possitive its not flooded cause i was at operating temp. aslo my cel was flashing when it was doing all this. i have also been having some problems with my transmission lately. could this have any thing to do with it? my car has about 70k on it as well and i have been needing new coils for a few months now.

Maybe a bad cat, the coils need to be swapped. Also, you need to get the CEL code pulled to verify the issue. And you're still under engine warranty so no worries.

What "needing new coils" symptoms was your car exhibiting prior to this morning's issue?

Some Advance Auto Parts stores will let you borrow a code reader ... not all stores have a loaner, so call and ask.

so turns out its not the coils. during the few weeks my car was sitting the battery is no good any more. so i got a new battery. now its flooded. lol. any ways after i get it unflooded im figuring the problem now is the cat. i remember a few months ago i was driving at night and i pulled over to look underneath the car just for the hell of it. the flange around the o2 sensor was glowing red. also when the car actually is running its getting normal power from 1k-5k rpms. then after i push the gas down more it starts to make like a rumbling noise or like air going threw a paper bag. my dealership here said they would diagnose the problem next week and if its the cat it will be covered and if its not the cat i gotta pay 80 bucks for the diagnose. D: any ideas? oh and if it helps i have 70k on my car and i have pretty new plugs and wires. and now i have coils that only have 7k on them. and a new battery.

lol i seafoamed the engine not 10k ago. and the coils are pretty much brand new. so im seriously thinking its the cat. you think the dealership will have a problem with my car having aftermarket upgrades considering the problem is just the cat?
