Exclamation PO661 intake manifold value control low B-1 code!

My 04 mazda rx8 has just had a 05 engine put in it and i'm get a cheek engine light code that says PO661 intake manifold value control low B-1 and the guy at the parts store said that the low in the code could mean low Volt but he all so has no idea what a rotary car is so what dose this code mean and how would i fix it?

It could mean that your SSV is sticking or that the SSV solenoid valve isn't working .
A good test is to work the vakve by hand and see if it operates freely .
You could also get someone in the car to blip the throttle (to about 5000) and see if the valve opens when you do that .

Ok i took off the air filter box and the black hose that go's in between the air filter box in the manifold and the little flap thing moves freely with some resistance like its spring loaded and when i move it it sounds like a little motor and some gears moving and when i go to do the other way do i need to put any thing back on the car or do i just start the car up and have some one watch it as i hit 5000 rpm

when you move it you also move the diaphragm inside the actuator which is probably making that noise.
Now verify that valve moves when you blip the throttle .

The code you are seeing usually means a dead (or close to dead) solenoid.

these solenoid usually last between 5-10 years. rx8 is aging so yeah its quite normal to have dead solenoids. and these solenoids are usually "bad" when its hot. so after ur car is fully warm up, it stops responding and the ECU will see that it is not "moving"

so revving the engine cold or it's not bake in heat long enough will not trigger the code.
