Partially Clogged oil pickup.
Well ever since I had Mazda replace the oil pan in August of 2006, it has always leaked a little. By a little means that there was just enough to thinly coat the underside of the pan and the 1st third of the transmission..
Just in case anyone wonders why the pan was replaced, I had to eat a softball size rock, or a ford 350 truck....Hmmmm rock it was.
Since I'm doing some work on the car I decided that it was time to reseal the oil pan.
Now from reading other posts on Rx7club and azrx7.com about how much crap gets sucked up into the oil pickup from a Mazda reman, I though I would investigate, since this motor is a rebuild..
looky at what i found.
The last pic was half of what was in there. I didn't catch some in time before disappearing down the drain.
Now I don't know if this will help with my cooling. Full flow is better than restricted flow. So we will see.

Thats was the stuff in the pickup tube "filter". There were a couple of pieces still in the pan..
Not to mention that they got sealant all over the bolt threads. Thats a big no-no in the service manual. So i have to tap the threads and replace the bolts.
