Original battery croaks
I replaced the original battery in my 8 after 5.5 years. It was getting pretty wimpy and probably was the contributing factor in my car flooding for the first time ever a few weeks ago.
I bought a new Mazda battery at my Mazda dealership and was surprised to see that it is an inch or two longer than the original. I'm curious as to why Mazda shipped the car with a "small" battery when it is obvious the battery compartment can hold a larger battery.
Man, does it crank now!

mazda did change the battery in 05 (or late 04) to help address the flooding issue back then.
I'm surprised you didn't go with an aftermarket battery considering what dealerships charge these days.
