Oil leak

Has anyone experienced any oil leaks????

I currently have a 2005 51,000 miles
i have lately noticed that i have to top off the oil level more frequently..right now its at 2 1/2 quarts in 2,400 miles its not a big leak as to say it leaves a puddle on my driveway but just not when i got under it i notice that there is little seapage and oil little drops accumilating in front of the oil pan where the pulleys are its also oil dripping on the oil pump..... is there a common problem that i need to address?????? i took it to the dealership to get some warranty done since they said it was out at 50 K miles and they said it had a leak but did not repair it under warranty.. they said ohh its no big deal the car has 50 K miles.. its normal

maybe the crank seal??

Any insight on this issue is helpfull!

thanks

^ Dealership is wrong.

Oil leaks are not normal. Not uncommon, but not normal.

North American updated Engine warranty covers all gaskets and seals. for 8 / 160k km.

Get them to honour the warranty.

sounds like the crank seal alright - this problem has plagued me (but only happens on track days). If you can get it fixed on warranty - definately do it .

that is the oil metering pump for the engine. it pumps the oil into the rotary chambers, you can tighten the bolts. but i would get the dealer to check it..

this has not been a big issue but it does happen..

they said the crank seal is leaking! but not covered under warranty =[

330 to change it if they dont have to pull the motor to swap it
1200 roughly if they need to pull the motor...

1200 to pull the motor does not sound bad.

The problem is, why is it not covered under warranty ?

even your basic warranty is out, you should still have powertrain warranty.

Bad dealership. May want to ask them for the number to MANO so you can call them and politely ask them (with the service manager standing next to you) if the seal is covered under the core warranty where it says it is.

These dealership will be able to bill Mazda. Its just that it takes some time and paper work to be done.

why dont they just "do it" ? but for some reason, they just wanna harass the crap out of the customer, make them pay cash.

cash is king maybe?

I have a 2004 rx8. Same problem but worse. It was the oil cooler lines. Mazda did not want to cover this problem so I had to call corporate and remind them that I have taken the car in 12 times in the last year. That extended warranty covers pretty much nothing. They said they would fix it for me as a courtesy. Thanks Mazda. It was going to cost me $714. I will NEVER buy Mazda again.

They won't cover it under powertrain warranty. I suggest you call corporate. I have since filed under the BBB - lemon law.

I actually kinda worry about the oil cooler lines too.

I know they have a recall in Canada. Maybe Mazda think that We never use Road salt in the USA so no recall is needed. WRONG

My oil cooler couplers have rust all over them. sooner or later its going to break. and I'll make sure that happens before my B2B expires *cough*

Yeah there is also oil drops on the omp??? where there are 4 lines i believe like i mentioned earlier but they didnt say anything was leakin... where the 3 coolant lines meet right above them there is oil on the rubber hoses..

SO FAR ive burned 3 QT of oil in 2,600 miles...

i usually burn abound 2.5QT in oil change interval.

i called premier and they said that im just barely above 50 K miles and that they would bring it up to mazda and see if they would cover it and that i have a good case..

funny thing is the dealership told me i had a leak but didnt advise anytthing else on fixing it... they just said it was normal... and seapage was normal as well. because it had 48K miles at that time. i have a appointment at the other dealership thats willing to work with me. I hope mazda covers it...

05rx8mazda let me talk to your dealership that is bs no oil leak is normal and since you are out of warranty i would call Mazda NA since your dealership knew about the problem and did not fix it. Did you save you paperwork it stated the problem about the oil leak when you had 48k miles on the car?

I checked my garage floor and there was a puddle of oil last night.. fresh so i know its leaking for sure.. I cleaned the OMP and the hoses and the oil pan and part of the block.. i checked by the crank pullet and no seapage.. which is strange they said that was leaking.

The most oil drops are by the OMP under it and under the water pump pulley..

ran around town for a while.. oil level is the same as yesterday no leaks so far but img onna check in the morning.

I remember a while back i told them i suspected a leak and he said ohh its nothing that the mechanic checked it because of the mileage it had.. just like they check that my car has no broken windshield when its cracked lol and they say my clutch needs replacement when it was recently done. in the paper work he checked the box that said leaks detected..... As far as the paper work i left it in my friends car and never got it back.. his girl took his nuts so he doesnt talk to his friends anymore.. no contact with him anymore.

The dealership is roger beasly mazda on burnet road
I have a appointment at Premier mazda in georgetown tx.. i just didnt want to lose hope in that dealer ive been going there for the past 4 years till now.. and well i wont go there anymore
