TX Neutral and Reverse Switch

so after months of reaserch on what could be causing my bad idle and getting rich code 0172 after installing a used engine in my car, i remembered not knowing if i was connecting the plugs for the neutral and reverse switch like i should because theyre identical, so i just plugged it in however. after reading the symptoms of a neutral switch not working properly which is the rpms jumping for 700 to 1500 i believe that might be my problem. im going to try connecting those plugs again. any pointers on how to know if i connected those plugs correctly?

Their color coded

One set of connectors is black, the other is white. Polarity is irrelevant.

their was a reason why i didnt know how to plug them in. theyre both the same shape though.

their was 2 black plugs and 2 white plugs all the same shape. im pretty sure the harness also had 2 black and white plugs and that is why i was confused.

Yes, two black and two white. Each has a stripe on them, regardless of the same plug type I don't see how anyone can mix up color coded connectors.

Are your reverse lights working? If they are then this is not your problem and most likely have a faulty switch itself not a wiring issue.

since both the neutral switch plugs are black and the same shape is it possible to get these 2 wires mixed up? aswell as the reverse plugs

or is their no wrong way to plug them into the harness aslong as the color is right? as you can see their 2 possible ways to plug it into the harness.

my reverse light is working

What do you think turns on your reverse lights. If you mixed up the connectors then the reverse lights would be on when you are in neutral.

The switches are not polarized. As long as black goes to black and white goes to white the rest is irrelevant.

You can connect any 2 black that fit together and any 2 white that fit together, it doesn't matter which is which.
