Key Fob Problems
I'm having yet another problem with my car. This time it's not clutch related. My key fob stopped working recently.
My first thoughts were that the battery needed replaced, so I replaced it and tried it on my car. It didn't solve the problem. I thought, well crap maybe the key fob is just not working. So I bring it up at the dealership when I was getting my clutch pedal inspected.
The dealership says that the key fob is transmitting a signal but they tried four times and couldn't get it to program to the car. They wanted $150 for a new fob though. I said no thanks and went to ebay.
I purchased a used, working fob on ebay for $35, a steal if you ask me. I got my new fob in the mail today and tried programming it to the car. No luck. When doing the key/door repitition, the driver's side door locks and unlocks like it should after the 3rd push of the door button, but pushing the buttons on the fob does not do anything. The FCC ID does match before you ask. My next thought was maybe a fuse.
I checked all interior fuses and any fuse under the hood that may be related to it. All fuses check out.
A friend of mine told me that when Ford's came into his shop for reprogramming of a new fob, they needed a working fob to add another one. Is this the problem I'm having maybe? Do I need to take the "new" one up to the dealership to have programmed?
