Do you have an aftermarket intake (like AEM or MS)?
Water in the intake will cause that kind of symptoms (I know from personal experience).
But I've never had it to where I couldn't start it back up. The spark plugs could be fouled.
Does the motor turn when you attempt to start it?

Yeah, if it "doesn't even turn over", check/charge the battery, check battery-starter-ground connections and then try to start the car. Plugs have nothing to do with getting the engine to crank.
If the engine cranks but does not start, then check the plugs to see if they are wet with fuel-oil. If they are, your engine is flooded and you should de-flood it using the techniques covered in the owners manual and in numerous threads on this forum. The search function will help you find those threads.

Did the smoke smell like oil or did it have a sweet smell? Chances are the engine was flooded and the smoke is from the excess gas-oil burning off. Have someone with a CAN Bus-compatible, OBDII reader pull the error code(s). If the car is still under warranty, take it to a dealer to pull the codes and make any required repairs.
