Just pushed car into parking lot

hey everyone, my 2006 WB has been nothing but great to me (with meticulous care) but on the ride home this morning, what i suspect is tranny related, crapped out on me.

Half-way home I could feel the clutch loosen up through the pedal and I would have to rev to about 8,000 rpms before it would catch and start to drive forward. By the time I got to my street there was nothing, no catch, just smoke, and had to be pushed off the street..., im far from a mechanic but suspecting major clutch or lsd issues, is this a prevalent issue with my model year, or does anyone at least have any other suspicions?

How many miles on the clutch? Have you had any noises? When running down the highway the car revs without you puching in the clutch? Strange smells? Did you check you hydraulic system for leaks? How does the peddle feel? Soft no push back, hard etc...

From what you are describing it sounds like the clutch system. Either plate, throw-out bearing or pilot(needle) bearing failure.

Theres 46k on the engine and what I assume is the stock clutch, I bought used at 22k miles, no noises, pops, or snaps that stood out, i did the clutch test with the revs and when in gear it would just rev up without pushing in the clutch, the smell was of burnt clutch, I didnt check the hydraulic system exactly but looked underneath for leaks and saw nothing of the sort, the pedal feels like a wet rag and gives me nothing back...

Check your hydrualic system first. Maybe the salve took a **** on you. If thats the case then replace it and the master. On 7's they were about 60 to 75 bucks for the set. Can't be much more on the 8's. You just have to hope that if the slave crapped out on you that it didn't take the friction plate or bearings out with it. Not always the case but can happen depending on what was going on. As for the clutch itself going, that is you next one troubleshooting thing. Lot more expensive since you have to drop the tranny and check and replace. Only benefit if it is the clutch plate, you can get aftermarket one that will fit your driving style a little better factory stock.

It does suck. Had a few clutch issues with my 7's over the years. If its acting like it is still in gear no matter what you do it is most likely the throw-out bearing. All kinds of nasty sounding noises and grinding then pilot bearing. The slipping feeling when you are in gear, and that smell of burnt clutch, then the friction plate or pressure plate gone. And what you have, its been the clutch itself, or the hydrualics going out. If i was you I would get a friend to push the clutch and try to see if you can watch the slave do its thing. With the 8 its hard to get a good view of it. But a small mirror should do the trick. Or jack the front wheel up and go underneath for a look. Slaves can and do fail pretty easily with no warning when a seal goes on them. But if you got a buddy with some ramps, decent set of tools and a driveway you can do a clutch in about six or eight hours max. Messy and hard to get a few bolts but it is doable. That could save you a few hundred bucks by doing it yourself.

Check the welds to your clutch pedal first

I just was out messing around with it and the car is behaving as if the clutch is stuck depressed in. I can put the car into gear without grinding but when i let off the clutch, it just revs up... I hope its only that, im gonna go check that out now.

It appears the pressure plate has failed.

thanks for the help guys, it was the pressure plate. I bought a spec stage 1 clutch kit and will hopefully have the car back by thursday at the latest. I wanted to do a flywheel while they're in there but I simply can't afford it right now
