Wierd CEL, no apparent problem

I've had a history of neutral position switch codes but have attributed them to traffic (over/under 19mph without a shift too many times triggers it) over the last year.

More recently I had a steady CEL for couple days then it switched off, assumed a false alarm and didn't check the code (need to get a scanner one of these days...). Tonight I had a blinking CEL for about 3-4 seconds while getting on the gas a bit coming off a red light (not WOT, though) which I backed off as soon as the light blnked. After a few seconds of flashing the light went off.

Haven't noticed any trouble, rough running or power loss. I'm at about 72k miles and probably die for a new set of coils. About 1300-1500 miles since my last oil change, and drove L.A.-Vegas round trip (covered the distance at night to avoid any potential heat issues). with no problems about 3-5 weeks ago.

Anyone know anything that'd cause a blinking CEL like that but not leave the light on after? I'm inclined not to worry much since the light went off and everything seems to be running fine, but I know blinking is normally a big deal (although this car does seem to throw a lot of false codes).
