Hello There!
New member here...
Had a Gen 2 Rx7 and love the looks of the rx8. Had a couple ?'s about the new models. My car used to flood when i turned it off, the injectors leaked down, but this sounds a bit different, it is a car that is on ebay. Any thoughts???
"I spoke to the previous owner who said it started hard in cold weather. This week we repalaced the plugs with the factory mazda ones... Very expensive plugs.. My cost was $117.00 for only four and that was with my dealer discount... Fresh oil and filter as well as a new battery.. It still starts hard and has almost no power .. It feels as if only half of the engine is running... Remember that this car does not run well enough to test drive or even feel safe crossing the highway and is being sold that way in need of repairs.. .. It could be easy or it could be major"
Do you think the injectors are leaking down? As far as the power issue, any insight? Thanks alot. BTW, here is the car.

Check out www.mazmart.com for potential motor replacement/rebuild and prices. Or poke around in the vendor section of this site.
I'll be honest.........I would steer away from picking one up with that high mileage and that cost seems high to me. That's just my opinion.

Thanks! I appreciate the honesty. I have a 04 dodge truck but loved the rotary and its high winding nature, it loved to be revved!!!! I must have heard that screeching sound(i think it is overrev?) and light on the dash at least 10 times a day. Got 150k out of my 87 automatic before i retired her. When i would shut her down the injectors were shot and would leak down, flooding it.
I would pull the fuel line(kept a coffee can in the hatch compartments behind the seat) and put the rubber line in the can. Get in, turn the car over and it would start, burning the fuel already leaked in the engine. Then i would get out, reconnect the hose and nonchalantly give the pavement a drink of gasoline(small amount). That is the only way it would start.

Well............even though 5k is high with that mileage, I might do it if it passed a compression check and had good numbers. But I would for sure have that done on it.
It is out of warranty for the motor since it's over 100k miles.
I wouldn't be real concerned about the injectors per say, I'd be more worried about the carbon build up in the engine, if the seals are okay, and what the CAT looks like inside????????
The running on what seems like half power is scary as it could be a simple as the coils, or as bad a "Ka-boom".
Oh yeah.....and 04 are kinda known in some cases to have weak starters. Long cranks, especially when cold. There is an updated starter that will cure that.
