It is fine during high speed braking. It only seems to make noise right when I let off the brake pedal at very low speeds as when stopping. It makes a very low frequency "pop" sound as I let off the pedal. It does not sound like a pad problem as there is no squealing.

The only thing I did recently was installed speed bleeders, bled the lines, and installed 17' winter wheels. The MC did accidentally go dry (i was looking from the driver side and not from the front and was staring at a full clutch fluid level). I bled the MC and everything seems fine regarding pressure.

FYI I did degrease and sand the wheel hub mounting surface already to no avail.

I'm thinking maybe it has something to do with air getting into the ABS system???

well if they was air in the system your brake pedal would feel soft

Nope brakes feel fine and firm, so I guess that's not the problem.

What else could it be narrowed down to?

Did you replace the pads and rotors or just the pads? And if so what brand did you buy

Check your wheel torque as there is a TSB for a similar "low-speed snapping sound" on the front wheels and this one sounds too familiar to overlook the similarities. Also check to be sure that all 4 tires are the same diameter and wear as it might cause issues with the ABS otherwise.

Never replaced the pads, just cleaned the backing plates and added some brake-noise product at the areas specified in the brake squeal TSB.

Also lubed the slider pins, and bolted everything back up.

I also torqued the wheels to 108 ft lbs as per TSB and cleaned the wheel hubs.

Its driving me nuts as I have done all the work meticulously and I still can't locate the noise. I have had the wheels off twice now looking for a source of the noise.

Would the need for hub-centric rings cause this symptom? They are aftermarket wheels after all.

calipers are not tight..

checked the calipers and all the pad mounting hardware

beginning to think its just the pads shifting around, maybe i need some new brake shims

UPDATE: It was not the brakes after all. I did a inspection of the rear suspension bolts and tightening them as I went along.

One of the suspension arm bolts was loose about half an inch. Tightened everything back up and everything is back to normal including my sanity. Strange as the car is completely unmodified and the suspension has never been touched.

Has anybody else experienced any loose bolts and which ones have loosened? If someone can post up a pic of the rear suspension I can pinpoint exactly which one came loose.

A dollar says it was an endlink bolt...I recently added locktight to my endlink bolts.
