Front passenger side underpanel bent by snow

On my way home from work tonight through thick snow, it appears the front passenger side underpanel came off halfway and was dragging itself for who knows how far of the way back. This includes the little "mudflap" that sticks downward immediately in front of the front wheel. For now I managed to just take off the "flap", and screw the rest of the panel back into place best I can. There is a metal bar that supports the flap I also removed. It seems I lost two snap-on fasteners out there, but at least one corner screws in with a bolt; I think the panel will stay put for now.

Getting to the point, is the front wheel flap really protecting anything important that I should get it put back on / replaced ASAP? Ditto for the front corner panel (probably protecting foglight wires / backside of the oil cooler).

EDIT: Looking closer at the underpanel, looks like it's actually part of the front half of the wheel well cover! I think I might want to get more fasteners...

Same thing happened to me last year, and I didn't replace it for a month or 2. I also lost most of the middle cowling (under the radiator.) My air pump (emissions part, in front of the windshield washer container) failed this winter. I don't know that they're connected, but it could be.

The name of the part is splash shield.

That's the best price I've seen on it. Are the clips in the bumper still there or did those get lost?
If you order from the above and leave a note that you need all the mounting hardware, they should be able to add it to your order.

I hit an ice bank, broke up those on my car and had to replace them. The old plastic clips will break or deform and be hard to reinstall. Get new ones.
Prices for shipping can be high due to the size of the package. Get the Mazda PN# for the parts and compare prices from local dealers.

Mazda PN# can be found here: http://www.mazdamotorsports.com/pdfs/RX/04rx8.pdf

Don't need that metal flap or metal support bracket.

Get new plastic screws. Also use duct tape if the holes are oblong and it looks like the screws will get loose again.
MM posted a fix for this. I followed suit.

Used a container top. Cut to size, used real screws and the panel will never move again.
