Sounds dumb, but did you have anything in the sunglass compartment. I noticed if I have stuff in there it makes a rattle. You can also try to adjust your mirror as it does move up and might help with the noise. Take it to the dealer if all else fails. You might want to acrue some more problems first before taking it up with them because it's a pain in the butt to get just that one thing fixed.
I was planning to diconect/disassemble the mirror and apply some silicone bead to it. Mine rattles from what seems to be the plastic trim around the front. If I squeeze the mirror (top to bottom) it will creak and stop rattling for a while. I'm guessing it's just some loose joints.
I've noticed my rear view mirror rattling as of late.. but all it takes is for me to lightly touch it to make it stop.. very intermittant.. hopefuly it doesn't get any worse.
I have the same problem and I have found that if I do what MTCD01 said....grip the mirror with my hand and squeeze it, it will stop rattling for a while and then start up again.
This is an old thread I know but I've just had this problem fixed. It was just as you all report -- rattling from the plastic surround and squeezing it with one hand would stop ot for a few minutes. Took it into the dealer for the recent recalls and asked them to fix it. Turns out it was a loose screw which they tightened. The rattle has gone!
