Engine Trouble

Having the following issue, brief overview.

2006 RX8 GT, 93,000.00 miles.

About 3 months ago, flooded it and couldn't get it started.

Replaced Starter, plugs and wires.

About 2 month's ago, it starts running rough occasionally:
Hard idle, actually shaking the whole car at times. Worse with AC running.
Less Power at all RPM's.
Burning more oil than usual
Smells like its burning oil(no leak evident howerver)
It has even died three times.
All three times it died it was a hot day(Florida) and I was in traffic. Might be a coincidence but it seems to run worse under these conditions.
Once I get on a highway, the car runs fine until I get off and into stop/go...

Took it to the dealer, they had it for 11 days and could not duplicate the problem to diagnose it. Like I said it doesn't happen all the time.
They ran compression test and said it passed(I did not see results)
They told me to bring it back when it was acting up.
Two days later it starts all the problems mentioned above. I drive it in to the dealer, dash lights on because it had just died(third time) and the mechanic jumps into the car and he drives. Took us a while to find traffic but when we did it just begins to start running rough. He says it needs coils and drives back. Pay $500.00 for the coil job, pick it up, drive the first 30 minutes and its fine. After that it returns to the exact problems mentioned above. Bring it back to tell them it wasn't the coils(they say too bad, thanks for the 500 bones).

This is where I'm at. I'm suppose to talk to the Service Manager at the Dealer at this point. My Service guy said its probably time to get the Mazda regional rep involved. They basically had my car for 20 days and after $500.00 nothing is fixed or even confirmed to be wrong with it.

Any help is appreciated.

Signs really do point towards the engine itself... I would ask for another compression test and actually see the numbers.
We've also seen simple things like a loose battery connection or the battery itself cause vehicles to suddenly cut-off... but that is something you can easily verify.
