What is the history of the car, service done, parts replaced, type of driving it gets, any thing you can think of that might help us. Get your CEL code read at a auto parts store or shop.

You should just take it to the dealer. There is a 100k mile 8 year warranty on the drivetrain.
Honestly it could be numerous things but the dealership will not listen to your input and you probably don't want to pay to have it fixed so just take it to the dealership and let them do it.
It could be coils, catalytic converter, or your engine could be toast from carbon build up.

I had the exact same problem. I took it to the dealer, they gave me new spark plugs and performed the decarb. They charged me $500 bucks for it. I went back with a print out of Mazda service bulletin which said I was covered under 8years/100K warranty and they reimbursed me for the money I had spent. All problems solved. The car runs just fine now.
They also did the CPU update and asked me to switch to newer/faster starter. I did not change the starter as it has never given me any problem and the new one was over 600 bucks.
