engine coolant problem?
ok say if i drive in the higher rpm range 5-9 for a prolonged period of time... my engine coolant level comes on saying i have low level of engine coolant... and whenever i check its basically full.... there are no leaks or cracks in the coolant container itself... does anybody know what this can be? or has anyone had this problem before?
also .... if somebody can say which oil is best for rx8... i currently use 5w-20 and asked mechanic and he said to use 10w-30 but im not so sure ....

I'm not going to say anything about oil lol but you might need to add a tadd of coolant if not just leave it the way it is and deal with the light coming on. The coolant light threads have been posted before a gazillion times.

The coolant sensor is a known problem, there are several threads about it. Basically, the sensor sticks and gives an indication of low coolant when it is still full. My 8 had the same symptom, after reading about it here the options are 1.) Buy entire new coolant overflow tank (the sensor is part of the unit not a replaceable part), 2.) Take coolant tank out and attempt to clean the sensor (again there is a thread where someone tried this), or 3.) Just unplug the sensor at the coolant tank and check level visually. I chose option 3, simplest and most of my previous cars didn't have sensors.

alright thanks alot.. ill also stick with option 3... it is the simplest.... i didnt want to dig until i at least heard if someone had the same problem... it was just weird cuz it lit up and engine temp was fine( i know the oil pressure gauge is bs) but from what i heard the engine temp gauge is fairly accurate and will show engine overheating... .... and i do check the coolant every 1k miles ... another question i have if anyone has replaced their stock radiator with either an oem or ultimate performance aluminum radiator?
