Well it does, if I'm pressing the brakes. However, If I am coasting to a stop when coming to a red light for example, the car will shift from 4th to 3rd, then stay in 3rd and drive forever in 3rd at about 11 or 12 mph with my foot completely off the gas.

I tested this in an unpopulated area. I let the car coast in 3rd gear for at least a mile without giving it any gas or brake. It stayed at 12 mph and never downshifted.

Then I tried the same thing in 2nd gear and it stayed at about 9 mph but never shifted down to 1st.

This doesn't seem normal to me. Please tell me if I'm mistaken or if I should have the transmission checked.

I think its normal, have you tried a reset?

I think that's normal on a flat road. I've stayed in 3rd gear forever, it's a great way to save gas :x

Alright, thanks for all the responses guys. And yeah, i was getting about 23 mpg at 11 mph.
