COolant level light

COolant level light
So driving down the freeway today a strange lookng light popped on under my oil pressure gage. Looked like battery light at a glance but no + - signs. The light went away in a matter of seconds, but peaked my curiosity. I whipped out the manual to find what the light was and it's coolant level... I drove to the nearest auto parts store and checked my coolant level. Car was still hot so the resivoir almost spewed on me. Coolant levels looked fine but I'm worried because of the apex seal issues in the renesis and fd3 cars. Any ideas? Car has 49k and I've owned it for only 3k miles. Gonna let the car cool and fill the resivoir.

+1^. I had a friend that had to go to the hospital due to burns on his arm from opening a hot reservoir, not a good idea! Check it cold and fill as necessary, if it keeps happening to you the sensor at the bottom of the reservoir could be bad, mine light goes on and off all the time now because of the sensor yet mine has never had overheating issues.

I know radiators are explosive when hot... I took precautions before hand. Thanx for the tip on the sensor. Coolant level is fine. Was more worried about the apex seals then anything.

I mean that out of respect, for your safety and well being.
But I had the same thing happen to me, but because Phoenix is a close resemblance to hell, and everything runs hot. I thought it was one of the faulty sensors the 8's are commonly presenting. But I got home, let it cool, then check specs on where it should be and saw that I spewed coolant all over my engine bay on a 113+ degree day. Filled it to specs and it's never come back

That is not a coolant light! That light is a White House but RED for RED ALERT! The car is linked up to the Department of Homeland Security's network system. When it illuminates, it means that terrorists are targeting your car every time it goes of.

Don't be gay with the "you'll get burned" crap. I'm well aware of the functioning of the radiator. Everyone has the same thing to say. I've opened several hot radiator caps with lots of padded towels and some bare handed. If the cap is bareable, like it was on my Rex, you can vent the resivoir ever so slightly to check for coolant and not get burned. I know that it's not standard operating proceedure, but I work in dangerous situations everyday and live o tell about it. Pls get off the soap box I got my answer about the SENSOR. That's all I needed to know. No need to go into details about all the rediculous things I have done with cars in the past. No one has to believe someone typing on the innernat.

if you searched as much as you typed about you ability to withstand burns you would have been done.
