Code p2097

I took my eight in for smoking on cold mornings and a cel light. They said I needed a new o2 sensor. But the code when I checked was for high a/f downstream number 2.

Do you think they are just patting me on the *** and getting me out the door?

Seems like it would say bad sensor. Not the air fuel mix high downstream, that should point to other problems.

Any techs know if this is acceptable? Also when I looked under the car at night the port where I beleive the o2 sensor goes on the cat converter was glowing red. Is this normal, I know they get hot so it could be norm?

I live four hours drive from the dealers and don't want to have to return multiple time.

Read the possible causes of this DTC below. Note that there are a number of possible causes including O2 sensors.

Thanks, hopefully this will correct it. I can't drive it there and get it to smoke like it does for them to see. Only does it cold.
