1.) This is a two year old thread

2.) How do you know it's on due to the o2 sensor?

3.) Check www.mazmart.com or maybe www.finishlineperformance.com or maybe even.......http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...?siteid=214264 or http://www.mazdaparts.com/

Like I said in the other thread.......................go get that code read and then come back and do some searches. It's really the only way to know........we aren't psychic. At least not to this level.

gas cap?

Yesterday I fill up and forget to put mygas cap on. 10 minutes later on the highway I stop and put it on. This morning before I hop on the high the yellow cel comes on. Solid not flashing. I drive it for 1.5 hours and it doesn't seem bad. Am I ok to drive it home? Can the gas cap issue have a delayed reaction like that?

There are over 100 different codes possible behind the light. Go get the codes read.

Yes, it is likely from your gas cap problem, possibly some debris or junk got stuck in the cap's threading and it is no longer sealing correctly. However, it is entirely possible that it is unrelated, and could be anything from an intake valve malfunction, a cat failure, or any other emissions related function (some of which are also related to engine health and performance)

Yeah I'm on that. I'm just out of town hoping it starts and gets me back home. But as long as its driving normally I should be good for today heh?

If the light came on as soon as you started the car, it's the gas cap or one of the related evap system codes. If it came on later, after you were driving a while, it's something else.

If you have very far to go, it would be worth getting it read so you know what it is and whether or not to worry about it.

You should probably make your own thread, but in the mean time.

How many miles are on the car?
Has the engine ever been rebuilt/replaced?
What is the age of the ignition components(coils/wires/plugs)?
Does the engine have good compression?

Get an OBDII scanner yourself and read the code or bring it to a mechanic to get them read and report back what the actual check engine light(CEL) is about.

Won't let me start a new thread.

I have a 2004 Manual 6 speed with 123k. I recently got a CEL. Took it down to Autozone. The guy says my OBD wires were messed up and he wasn't able to get an actual code. He says to take it to a mechanic.

I replaced the CAT and both O2 sensors around July of last year but I'm really hoping either of those things could be it already. I just thought I would say something here before just taking it to a mechanic. Again, it won't let me post a new thread so here I am. Any advice is much appreciated.

You can only start threads in the new members forum. Read the announcements to find out why.

We need to know those codes for the CEL, otherwise we're only guessing. And guessing can be frustrating...

We also need more details about your car. Any mods? When did you last change plugs/coils? Maintenance history?

And have you read the new members thread? Read that before posting anything else.
