So my CEL came on and at first I thought it may have been the gas cap issue. So I tightened it up and reset the ecu. CEL went away but came back the next day. I tried cleaning the MAF and IAT with CRC MAF cleaner and did another reset. CEL went away and came back the next day.

My 05 MT is at 107000km (66500 mi). I have already completed the 100k (60mi) service.

Both times the CEL came on I was cruising on the highway. I don't notice any loss in power.

Any suggestions on what I could be before I pay 100 bucks to the dealership to read the code?

I tried searching so I apologize if there is a similar thread.

Not sure about "up north" but we have auto stores like Autozone that will read the code for free.
You guys have any auto store like that?
Without knowing the code, you're just throwing darts at a board of possibilities.

I don't think any of our auto stores would do it for free here. I will have to double check tomorrow.

Or if you know anyone with a code reader handheld, they can pull the code too.
The reader has to be able to read CAN bus equipped vehicles.

Went to Part Source where they were able to scan for free!!! (thanks for the advice Jon316G)

P0420 - Bank 1 Sensor

did a search on that... could be either the o2 sensor or the cat itself. I believe my warranty just expired too.

If it is the Catalytic converter, then I believe Canada has the same emission standards as we do in the US. Your Cat is warrantied for 80,000 miles.
