ATF in intake?
I parked my rx8 for a week or so and i came back to it to try and start it. The battery was going bad before so I knew it wouldn't start and not to my surprise it didn't. I changed the battery and tried again, no luck. I took the tire off and cleaned the spark plugs and pulled the fuel pump fuse and started it and put the plugs back in and fuse and again...no luck. I tried the circuit fuse trick and that didn't work either. I talked to a mechanic while getting my new battery and he said to pour automatic transmission fluid down the intake. He said he used to have a rx-7 and used that trick alot. I thought he was full of it so I ignored it.
I called a mazda dealership and asked him what THEY did. He told me that they pour ATF fluid down the vacuum line and reset the computer and charge $470. I called a different mazda and they said they pour a "special solution" down the intake, and when i asked ATF he studdered for a second and said no. He also told me that Mazda released this thing in March of 2008 that if your car had under 60k miles then they will deflood your car for free but he wasn't sure. I also asked him what would happen if I poured ATF down the intake and all he said was that it would destory the cat. I was going to change my spark plugs, but the mechanic at Mazda told me if I did that while my car was flooded then it would ruin the new ones.
Has anyone else heard of these methods? Or has anyone heard of them doing it for free?
Thanks.

I recently had this same problem and tried the usual techniques without success.
I read the "DIY: Deflooding in under 5 mins" and managed to get it started that way.
Here is what I wrote from that thread:

Just make sure your battery is charged before starting.
