antifreeze problem help!!

ok I have a 04 rx-8. I bought it a few months ago .and well I am allways adding antifreeze .so the sensor light goes off,it seems that it comes out of the over flow, and since the overflow tube is about 2 inches long it sprays on the engine. now with that being said is this normal? should i just get a long hose and run it to the bottom of the engine and call it good?

1.) You know the bottle has a full mark right? It's hard to see but it's on the side and you don't fill it up all the way. If you are....then stop!
2.) Many of us extend the hose down to at least the undertray. If you don't and do push coolant out, you will get it everywhere including the power steering connectors that are way down there, and then you will loose power steering due to corrosion. Mine is long enough so that it just pokes out the bottom of the undertray. Make sure when you do extend it that you don't impede the fans!
3.) I should also tell you that the coolant sensor is a known issue. It usually starts out only at high rpm's in 3rd gear and finally gets worse enough where it on all the time(even if coolant to the full line). Are you sure this isn't what you are seeing?
4.) Use advance search and look for "Coolant bottle" and you'll see some threads on this all these subjects.

What's the problem..............you overfilling it?
If you aren't and are filling it correctly, then it shouldn't overflow, even with the short hose.
Making the hose longer isn't going to solve that.

so is it leaking or just over fill to stop the light turning on. If it's just the light you could change the bottle.

^..............correct....that's what I was getting at.
Seems as if he is over filling merely to get the light to go off. We know that is a bad sensor, so he can either change the bottle out(and fill it correctly), or unplug the sensor and check the coolant from time to time just like he should be checking the oil.
Filling the bottle all the way up is going to make it come out the hose each and everytime......becuase you are over filling it!

OP(Roosterzx10R), you need to go look at either one of the following two threads at the very least:

if the level is at H, the light problem is a sensor problem
