Air pump
I have a 2003 Rx-8 that runs fine at high RPM but when stopping at a stop street/traffic light the car begins to idle very rough and then stalls. With much searching I found that the air pump is not working. If I take the pipe off, from the air pump, the car idles. What could be causing the air pump not to run. The fuse is fine. Please help! I did put 12volts directly from the battery to the air pump and it runs fine and the car idles perfectly.

Thanks for the info! I have subsequently found that out, car still wont idle, when it is cold it idles but when it warms up the idling is up and down and then it eventually stalls. Replaced the coils and still the same problem. Could the O2 sensor in the cat be faulty?

Okay, the vehicle has +-45 000 miles/72 000km on it. It starts perfectly and revs perfectly, it sounds very healthy. It just doesn't want to idle. I have found that if I unplug the airflow sensor, it idles fine, but a bit high. I have tried another airflow sensor and it does the same. Still not sure what it could be. Any help?

Okay, I have checked all the vacuum pipes that I can find and everything seems to be okay. All the plug leads are fine. It does have a CEL but I don't have the machine to check what fault code it is. Does anyone know where I can get a cable to link the car computer to my laptop? So that I can check the code.
