AC belt breaks, replaced, car won't star now
So, I'm driving down the interstate and my AC belt breaks. I've replaced the belt and it looks like the pulley is locking up on AC side. Haven't replaced it yet, but the car will not fire up now. It turns, and it wants to start, but she wont. If the locked up pulley on the AC is the reason, then great, but it doesn't make sense to me that the AC being offline would keep the car from running. I could be wrong, I'm still learning about the RX8. Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.....oh yeah..shes a 2004 mt.

update (for anyone that cares)
So I called a mazda dealership and spoke with a service tech...he recommended looking at the crank shaft position sensor, which will keep the car from starting, saying it might've gotten hit when the belt broke. It looks like it took a hit so I'm going to go ahead and replace that. I'd also like to just order what mazda calls the "clutch assembly" for the the ac compressor. Its the part that has the pulley on it so I may not have to replace the entire compressor. Only problem, it runs over $700 at the dealer down here and I would prefer not to have to pay that much. I'm looking online and browsing through the forums, search isn't showing me anything, but if anyone knows where to get factory parts cheap PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE shoot me an email at craving12@gmail.com...thanks guys...Justin

Check to see in the outer hub piece will turn. If it is just the pulley part with the grooves that is seized then a new clutch will work. If the outer hub piece will not turn then a whole new compressor is needed.

Yes, the sensor is in a horrible position.
The reason it won't start (even after you replace the sensor) is you need to clear the memory, it won't fire until you get rid of the bad reading caused by it's failure.
