04 Rx8 died and wont start back up
Hey, I have a 04 Rx8 and last night on my way home from work just leaving a stop light and all the sudden my engine popped and started acting as if it was running on half the engine. Then it died and wont start back up, But when i turn it over it sounds like a miss, Because it will go . . . Grind grind . . .quiet . . . grind grind . . . quiet. .. . . ETC So Just wondering if anyone had any ideas. Its at the Mazda dealership getting the code pulled.

No. You have an 8 year, 100,000 mile warranty on your engine. Low compression means you get a new engine. They are most likely running more tests to see if they can get better compression readings so they do not have to replace the engine. If the engine needs to be replaced, you could have them put the old spark plugs and coils and stuff back on and refuse to pay the $655 since it was the engine(warranty issue) and not what they originally claimed it was. Or, if you don't mind spending the $655, keep that stuff in. If you havent changed those then its probablly a good thing you got new ones.

I wouldn't put it past a dealership to try and tell you that. You could always just put the stock one back on to be safe. I don't think they can void the warranty based on a legal CAI. Maybe if it was illegal. Im not 100% on that though.

Congrats on your new engine. Remember not to beat on it for the first 1000 miles or so. You don't need to worry about carbon lock in that time span. Now if I can be so lucky for my engine to **** the bed and be covered by Mazda.
