I believe it's part of the MAF sensor.

Correct-it's the brown tear-drop shaped sensor on the right in this pic:

Thought so..... wasn't 100% certain though.
Thanks for clarifying.

Not sure which wires you would tap into, but it's irrelevant- the 8's ECU can't be tricked by falsifying the MAF or IAT input signals.

Indeed it can't, which is why I made a complaint to eBay. My eBay favourite search no longer shows all those +++++20hp cheap mod annoying items. :D

Anybody got a CANScan or similar can tell us what the intake temps run at, just out of interest?

I can log some readings... I'm planning on doing some intake mods this weekend and want to baseline some data with it stock first (intake temp, airflow, and speed/RPM with acceleration over time) today or tomorrow.

intake temperature should be fairly close to ambient at speed unless you have a turbo / supercharger in the car.

Last time I did a good run, IAT was about 6 degrees C higher than ambient as reported by the ambient air sensor in the '8... however this was only one run, but it was a decent one (around 100km/h for 20 minutes)
