If you are talking about the creamy substance on the dipstick, there is a problem with moisture making its way into the dipstick tube. Mazda has a new TSB to fix this with a new dipstick tube, and possibly a new dipstick. I assume that is where you are finding the water. This is happening only in areas where the weather is cold. It will most likely not be a problem in the summer.

As far as I can determine, there is no TSB on this "problem". There IS an informational TSB on the new dip stick. Nothing about the creamy stuff. Apparently there is a "fix" available for those owners who are concerned about the stuff, but the "problem" is essentially cosmetic and not something worth worrying about. In my opinion, the so-called fix could turn out to be worse than the "problem".

Having seen this question come up over and over I have a question for those owners that live in colder climates and do their own oil changes. When you drain the oil do you see “milky stuff” in the pan? If you only see the milky globs on the dipstick but NOT in the oil then your really not getting water in the oil. It’s just as has been reported here before a temperature / condensation issue with the dipstick. So I am curies to find out is the “ milky stuff” in the oil or just on the dipstick?
I have owned my 8 since 2/2004 and have had this “issue” both winters. Goes away in the spring and my 8 runs fine. I also get oil changes every 3,500 miles.

Actually, water in the pan of a reciprocating engine from say, coolant, mixed at heat comes out as vaseline, or lumpy brown gooey chunks. Kind of gross actually. If memory serves, I did not get this kind of thing out of the pan of the RX 8 when I had lots of milky stuff on the dipstick, but I only do half of my oil changes since I get the other half free from Mazda in exchange for some horse power.

I live in New Jersey and I also have seen this "white substance" on the top of my dip stick tube in cold weather. Nothing has happened as far engine problems, but hopefully we can find out how to remedy it.

As I said previously, the idea that Mazda had was to replace the dipstick tube with a one that contains a sleeve, and a thicker dipstick. There was a post where one RX8 owner took pictures of the new dip tube...it showed a blue sleeve inside the dip tube. Moisture in the oil finds its way into the diptube which is not has hot as the oil itself. The moisture collects there and tends to mix with some amount of oil...leaving the residue, and in my case water droplets on the dipstick. I imagine that the rest of the moisture in the oil that does not make its way to the dip tube, is evaporated in the heated oil....one question I do have, can anyone effectively explain why we see our exhaust as vapor? Where is the moisture coming from? The obvious answer to me would be moisture in the air, or condensation on cold metal components in the engine....however, I would expect this to stop once the engine reached operating temp...???
