All these years and you still haven't figured it out

Combine a hot engine, high rpm , high cornering g's , high oil level with any RX8 pre the Mazda fix and you have a very high probability it will puke oil into the intake .
The engine does NOT necessarily need to be excessively worn out for this to happen... as Mazda realised when they addressed the issue around 2005-2006.

I accept that it's blowby that causes this but we shouldn't all go off and get a new engine when this happens (unless it's under warranty of course) when there is another economical solution to the problem.

Except my early 2005 system (12/2004 build) was never modified, not to mention that change had nothing to with puking oil. It had to do with excessive moisture in the oil sump causing the white milky buildup. I guess you missed the part where I raced on R-compound tires with an intentional 1 extra quart of oil in the conditions exactly as you stated above for a year and never puked then or since (10+ years).

Every puking engine I've tested had a compression issue though.

Keep the ignorance alive man ...

This is the TSB you're referring to. You're probably confused because it people here keep posting that it was for the puking oil issue, which is just more forum misinformation:

Well JPL, next time you take it in I'd demand a compression test to prove that the reman they installed is up to par, may as well get right to the bottom of it.

Did you find oil once or is it puking regularly? The cars I'm referring too had a continuous problem. I'm not convinced he has an issue because his posts are a bit confusing IMO. I'm just saying in general that a proper NA Renesis engine doesn't puke and a catch can mod makes no sense on the most RX8s. On an FI modded car you're going to have boost getting past the seals and into the oil sump so that's a different deal entirely.

I'm just saying ..................... your advice that people should get their engine rebuilt because it pukes oil into the intake is .................bad advice ! Is that what you are actually saying , or do you have another alternative ?
I have seen it happen to numerous rx8s that have then had a can fitted and gone on to live a happy life for many years and tens of thousands of kms .

As an aside ... I've also seen it happen on an engine that was rebuilt shortly before hand and then gone on to have a compression test done that showed the engine was just hunky dory .
Here are the results of that test :

Maybe that's because , as a side benefit , it actually did fix the puking oil issue

Where did I say rebuild the engine based on it? I said in my experience it means a bad engine of some sort, which has proven out by testing compression.

Freshly rebuilt? Rotor 2 is barely above the minimum and right at the max diff per rotor. The motor I just had rebuilt was way better than this after fours years of competition use, lol ...

You implied that a rebuild was necessary by suggesting that a catch can was not a viable solution

Ok, guess I was more direct about it than I had recalled.

Well check the compression at least. In my book the freshly rebuilt example Brettus posted needs another rebuild already

It isn't great , but it will run happily for many thousands of km without a rebuild. So there is no warranty on the rebuild and this person has limited funds .....What would you suggest they do about the puking oil situation ?

BAZZZZZINGGA!!!!

Telling people they should have an engine rebuilt rather than continue to run it into the ground is not bad advice. Why do you think your freshly rebuilt example engine is already on the verge of being outside the minimum compression spec? Your 'bazinga' comment only proves your focusing more on trying to show me up to your back-slapping clique of forum pals than use common sense. 230+ fwhp NA engines aren't just an occasional anomoly for anyone with half an understanding of the Renesis engine.

I'll draw a picture for you ...........

Got $20 in the bank , earn $20/hr , just bought my rx8 on finance , 1/3 of my wages goes into paying it off . Oh dear , oil in the intake what should I do ?

I know ...........i'll ask the forum

Spend $5000 on a rebuild or .......................... fit a $10 catch can ... they say.

Hmm ...really tough choice here .

Team is a knowledgeable guy so I had better get a loan, ditch the girlfriend and get another job to pay for my rebuild . Otherwise i'll miss out on that extra 10hp for when I try drag off that Toyota Prius .

I would recommend keeping the oil at the 3/4 mark on the dipstick and monitor and you should not have issues.

I doubt the example "freshly rebuilt compression test engine" will even hit 170 rwhp. Otherwise I don't understand why you can't just focus on the subject rather than keep trying to intentionally egg me on with the personal commentary. You have lost track on the actual subject post that bumped this thread up recently. Guy just got a new reman under warranty. If it's bad, he can get another one rather than listen to poorly thought out advice here. First step is to clean it and see if it comes back. If it does, there's a problem somewhere.
